On May 25, 2005, soccer witnessed one of the most dramatic comebacks of all time. In the final of the UEFA Champions League, an underdog Liverpool side faced off against the mighty AC Milan, who boasted a lineup of some of the game's greatest stars. What unfolded over the course of 90 minutes and two halves of extra time was nothing short of remarkable. Milan raced out to a 3-0 lead within the first half-hour, and Liverpool looked helpless against the Italian's lethal attack. But then, just moments before halftime, Liverpool got a goal back through Steven Gerrard. At that point, fans of the English club held out a glimmer of hope, but it seemed a mere consolation at best. However, what happened in the second half was beyond anyone's wildest imagination. A rampant Liverpool scored three goals in just six minutes, and the game was now tied at 3-3. The stadium erupted, as Liverpool's supporters could sense something special was happening. The game went into extra time, and Liverpool completed their incredible comeback with a winning goal to cap off one of soccer's greatest ever nights. This game is now remembered as "The Miracle of Istanbul," and it remains one of the most iconic moments in soccer history.
